Thoughts that limit your mind

There are different ways of thinking that limit your mind and your creativity. They immerse us in pain and occasionally cause us to play the role of victim.

However, this is just a way of looking at life and thus it can be changed.

But how? By being aware of these ways of thinking that are harmful to us and that occasionally cause us to build walls that separate us from our surroundings.

Ways to think that limit your mind

“I postpone it until tomorrow”

Does the word “expose” sound familiar to you? It’s a habit that you probably have that makes you always put off something you want to do until the next day.

What happens in most cases is that you keep postponing it until you forget it.

You come up with excuses, such as that you have to save up and therefore should not spend money on the trip that you really want to go on. Or you fail to pamper yourself even though you could because you think it would not be right. These are all thoughts that limit your mind.

One way to avoid doing this is to live each day as if it were your last. But not in a way where you waste everything you own away. But rather where you enjoy life and allow yourself to do the things you feel like.

We only have one life. Who knows where we are tomorrow? Why do we not start enjoying it here and now?

“I can not stop thinking…”

Obsessive thoughts are thoughts that keep running around in your head

Sometimes we are bothered by something reminiscent of “obsessions”. They have a snowball effect where they get bigger and bigger until they overcome you and manifest themselves through anxiety or physical pain.

Something that has made you ashamed or a situation where you are overwhelmed by guilt can cause these obsessions to bombard you with how you could have avoided the situation.

Suddenly you can not sleep at night, you can not enjoy life, and your mind turns into a tornado of thoughts that will not stop spinning.

Learning to let go is crucial to not clinging to these harmful ideas that carry nothing with them. Because if you think about it, do you solve anything at all by constantly thinking about something that already belongs to the past?

“I have to make it perfect”

Perfectionists have a hard time letting go of a task

Have you ever been a perfectionist? If you have, then you know that sometimes it blocks you and prevents you from accepting something that is already done.

With the excuse that you have a task to perform, you will spend hours and hours trying to make it absolutely perfect.

Nevertheless, you are probably aware that this is something completely subjective. In reality, perfection does not really exist.

You are probably afraid of making mistakes, or of losing, or of being rejected for having done a bad job. But have you ever thought that this is a great opportunity to learn and grow?

When you are a perfectionist, there is never a chance for improvement. But by trying, and failing, you will learn from your mistakes and improve yourself. Accept that you are not perfect, do your best, and keep growing.

“I blame myself”, or “I blame you”

Some people blame themselves for everything, while others are busy blaming others

We have talked about guilt and blame in the past, but since it is such an important topic, it is crucial that we address it fully.
Blaming takes two forms, blaming others or feeling guilty, and both are very harmful. It prevents you from living a normal life and it limits your mind.

  • When you blame yourself, you are not able to get out of your current state. You paralyze yourself and you begin to revel in the obsessions that come to you.
  • When you blame others, you avoid the responsibility you should take for a situation. This results in immaturity and lack of perspective.

It is important that you find the right balance between blaming yourself and blaming others. It will enable you to let go of this kind of thinking that limits your mind.

Many of us have experienced these ways of thinking that make us feel bad about fashion. It paralyzes us and prevents us from living happy, full lives.

Now that we are aware of each and every one of them, we should do our best not to fall into their traps.

We do not have to suffer from these self-imposed thought patterns, as it is ourselves who have put ourselves in these situations.

Remember, the worst storms are the ones we form in our heads, not the ones that actually occur.
