But we must not forget that it is healthy to be alone. Alone time helps us stay in touch with our inner world, thoughts and feelings. It helps us deal with stress and anxiety.

When we allow ourselves to be alone it can feel relaxing. It allows us to “pull the plug”. Having time alone does not mean that you do not value other people or do not want to enter into relationships.

The book Party of One: The Loners’ Manifesto , by Anneli Rufus, tells us that almost 25% of all people need to be alone often. They love to be alone and feel good in their own company.

But introverted people are often condemned for their need to be alone. They are often called antisocial, losers, elitists and selfish.

It is not socially acceptable to value alone time. We must be social at all times, and we should preferably also search with light and lantern for a romantic partner.

How can someone be happy if they do not share their lives with someone else? Is there any joy in silence over conversation? Why think about his feelings alone?

Many people are used to seeing alone time as something bad. They think extroversion is best with constant social stimulus.

Alone time can be divided into two types:

  • Loneliness in the form of alone time may be optional .

This is the second type of self-chosen time we focus on today:

  • Alone time helps us regulate our mood and avoid bad mood, discomfort, frustration and other negative emotions.
  • It gives us a more open mind.
  • Introverted people are often good at being empathetic.
  • They think more about things, and learn to recognize their needs, fears and worries.
  • Alone time provides self-insight.
Emotional maturity
  • Some people are afraid of being alone. They feel it is a declaration of bankruptcy.
  • People who feel safe alone are better at controlling their stress and anxiety.

You may be wondering what negative aspects this profiling tool can show you. What the “ABC of Social Desires” shows is that these people usually feel misunderstood.

They have a good overview of themselves. Plus, they have good self-esteem. But when they think about how others see them, they almost always see themselves as “the group’s black sheep” or “the new student in the class”.

All in all, everyone has their own kind of personality. No personality is better than another. Whether you are a social butterfly or prefer time alone, it is good to learn what helps you be the best person you can be and embrace it.
