There is no law that says you will have to work full time, or prioritize money over leisure. In this article, we will get into five decisions that make sense in the present but that you will regret in the future.
We live a modern lifestyle that quickly makes one forget how important it is to enjoy the present.
But there are certain things we do not do that we will regret sooner or later.
If you do not get the things or the people the time they deserve, then you might think that there is time for it tomorrow.
But what if tomorrow never comes?
1. You neglect the people who matter most to you
You have so much work and so many things to take care of, so you move your meetings and appointments with your friends who make you happy. You feel you should prioritize your commitments.
But neglecting your friends will go beyond your relationship together. So when you want to save your friendship, it might be too late.
This can make your social circle smaller over time. By that time, you will realize that you have no real friends left by your side.
The same thing happens in romantic relationships. Giving up can make you regret things tomorrow. This is because you will always realize what you let slip through your fingers when you look back.
So before you throw the towel in the ring, do your best. Sometimes, though, it is not in our hands to save a relationship.
But you will feel better and be more satisfied if you do everything you can.
2. You live to work – and you will regret it in the future
Neglecting your relationships, your family and your free time to be able to work more is a serious mistake. Eventually you will find yourself in a constant spiral of stress. It is a decision you will regret in the future.
It is very important to turn off and have time for yourself. Give yourself the opportunity to relax and stop thinking about work for a few hours or a few days.
There are many people who do not know the difference between living to work and working to live. These elements must be in balance.
You do not have to be in the office all day. Stop exhausting yourself. You will regret it if you do not learn to enjoy life from today onwards.
3. You did not take the chance because you were scared
What do you want to do? How far do you want to go? Fear does not allow us to achieve the goals we have set, and causes us to take steps back.
It is time to look at fear differently, such as a challenge you have to face in order to get well on the other side.
If you constantly let yourself be controlled by it, then what do you achieve?
You will regret it tomorrow because you will realize that it was not worth it to submit to fear that destroys you.
4. You do not express your feelings because you find them embarrassing
We are often embarrassed to say what we really feel to the people we love. We assume we know what they are thinking or how they will react , and that keeps us from saying what we want.
But we often feel that we are overwhelming them and we therefore try to hold back based on the negative thoughts we flee to.
But have you ever regretted not saying “I love you” to the person you love?
Looking back on the situation a few years later provides a different perspective. It is a more realistic point of view that dispels all the worries you had at the time.
You have nothing to lose when you open your heart to another and say what you really feel.
No one knows how the other person will react. Maybe their reaction will surprise you…
If you do not express your true feelings, it is something you will regret in the future.
5. You will regret in the future that you are putting your health at risk now
You are young today, so when you ingest things in large doses, it does not mean much to you. Junk food, alcohol, lack of activity, and so on. What does that mean now?
It may be that you look healthy and fit on the outside, but as time goes on, everything you do will have consequences.
Remember that your body has a memory.
If you do not take care of yourself now, when do you do so? Tomorrow? Next year?
Intentions are only worth something if you act on them from now on, in the present. If not, they end up being failed targets.
The veins run by quickly. You end up regretting how fast life passes when you least expect it.
The present is the one that matters. Tomorrow you will regret everything you postpone today.
